Team USA star Christian Pulisic nears major decision on AC Milan future amid brilliant run for Chelsea castoff

USMNT star Christian Pulisic is in talks with AC Milan over a new contract to stay with the Italian side.

On Sunday, ESPN reported that the 26-year-old looks to extend his tenure after finding a home in San Siro. Pulisic arrived at Milan after three seasons with Borussia Dortmund and four with Chelsea.

Pulisic joined Milan on a four-year deal in July 2023 but is keen to stay longer after becoming a key squad member.

The American became the first Milan player to score over 15 goals in all competitions in his first two seasons since Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2010-11 and 2011-12.

Pulisic equaled his career-best goal tally for a season with his 15th on Saturday during their 2-1 win over Como.

Although Pulisic has been impressive since his arrival, the team has struggled to fulfill their potential and fans’ expectations.

Former manager Stefano Pioli departed this past summer after a 13-8-8 season that saw them finish ninth in the Serie A. He was replaced by Paulo Fonseca, who was sacked a few months after his arrival.

Sergio Conceição was handed the reins on December 30 but has struggled to lead the team back to consistent winning ways.

To improve their form, Milan bolstered their forward line in the January transfer window by adding Joao Felix on loan from Chelsea and Mexico striker Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord.

The additions joined Pulisic and Rafael Leao in their attacking lineup.

Still, the 19-time Serie A champions sit eighth in the Italian top flight, 14 points behind table-topping local rivals Inter.
