Rasmus Hojlund has made a brutally honest admission amid his dismal form for Manchester United this season.
The striker has only managed one goal since December 12, and endured a 21-game goal drought across three months. Meanwhile, he has bagged only eight times in all competitions in 2024-25.
But perhaps most worryingly, Hojlund has fired just 21 shots in the Premier League this season; 133 players have tested their luck in front of goal as many or more times than the Dane.
Hojlund recently conceded that he is unsure why goals have been so hard to come by.
And now, the under-fire £72million striker has opened up on the weight of wearing United’s No 9 shirt.
He told Premier League Productions: ‘It’s short-term. We know what this football club means, and the DNA is so sewn into the shirt.

Indeed, United have been eyeing up other striker options for the upcoming summer window
‘I wouldn’t have signed here if I didn’t know that. I wouldn’t have taken the number nine shirt in the summer if I didn’t think I wanted to have that sort of pressure.
‘I think, with it not being the best season, I’ve also struggled with it at some point. But again, it’s about finding your way and keep doing the things that got you here, but also working on the things you think you should improve, and that’s what I’m always trying to do.
Meanwhile, as Hojlund struggles to find his scoring boots, Ruben Amorim has been eyeing up other options to fix his side’s goalscoring issues.
Mail Sport revealed this week that United have made Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap their No 1 striker target.
The Red Devils are ready to trigger Delap’s release clause of around £40m if Ipswich are relegated from the Premier League.
It is understood that the 22-year-old is their firm favourite ahead of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and other potential targets such as Victor Gyokeres, of Sporting Lisbon, and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.
Mail Sport also understands that United are also one of multiple Premier League sides are interested in signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves this summer.
Newcastle, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur are also potential suitors.

Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee could be used as makeweights if United are unwilling to pay straight cash for any of their striker targets.
United’s duo up top have managed just 14 goals between them this season, despite costing a combined fee of almost £110m.
Despite their woeful record in front of goal, Amorim has previously defended his frontmen – especially Hojlund – claiming that their struggles are down to the lack of chances United have created.
The Red Devils have generated 54 big chances in the Premier League this season – the 13th most.
Amorim said in February: ‘I think it’s clear, we as a team aren’t helping Rasmus. We don’t create a lot of chances. We have a lack of threat and you can feel it in the games.
‘Sometimes we are in the final third but you don’t feel like we are a very dangerous team and you feel it also when we’re defending low and sometimes the opponent is not afraid of transitions.
‘So I have this feeling also as a coach that we are not helping the strikers.’
