Newcastle defender Lewis Hall will miss the Carabao Cup final in yet another blow for Eddie Howe, Mail Sport can reveal.
It means the Magpies boss has lost his first choice pairing down the left-hand side in the space of just a few days, after Anthony Gordon’s red card at the weekend ruled him out of the Wembley date with Liverpool.
Hall missed Sunday’s 2-1 FA Cup defeat by Brighton – in which Gordon was sent off – after picking up an ankle issue in the 2-0 loss at Liverpool last Wednesday.
We understand the 20-year-old has seen a specialist and the news is not good.
The full extent of his absence will be known in the coming days, but he will not be available for the final on March 16.
Hall would have been tasked with keeping Mo Salah quiet at Wembley, and his injury means Tino Livramento is set to come up against the Egyptian.

It also denies Hall a likely place in Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia this month.
He made his debut under Tuchel at Chelsea in 2022.
