Cristiano Ronaldo, now 40 years old, is reportedly on the verge of signing a new contract with Al-Nassr.
The Portuguese legend, whose actual agreement is expiring at the end of this season, will extend his stay in Saudi Arabia until at least 2027. He will also secure his position as the highest-paid footballer in the world.
New deal: until 2027, possibly 2028
Ronaldo signed a two-and-a-half-year deal when he joined Al-Nassr in January 2023, a contract set to expire in the summer of 2025. The Saudis are now pushing for a renewal and, according to Spanish outlet Marca, a new agreement is “imminent.”
The new deal is expected to run for two more years with an option for a third year. So Ronaldo could play for Al-Nassr until 2028, when he would be 43! Furthermore, this means he could potentially feature for Portugal at the 2026 World Cup.
Currently earning around €200 million per year, Ronaldo is reportedly set for a pay raise. Additionally, the 40-year-old Portuguese star will also receive a 5% stake in the club. This move would make him both a player and a shareholder.
Not just a player! Ronaldo could buy Valencia
Actually, Ronaldo’s business and sponsorship deals, far from slowing down due to his trip to Saudi Arabia, have multiplied at all levels. And according to Marca, recently there has been talk of Cristiano’s possible arrival at Valencia through the Saudi Arabian capital.
The news, which began as a rumor, began to grow to such an extent after the Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo published a report that Cristiano Ronaldo would be the new owner of the club, but only if they remain in the top division of Spanish football.
‘Los Murciélagos’ are now 13th in La Liga, with eight points more than the first team in the relegation zone, so the condition seems to be met. Reports suggest that he would need to invest just over €450 million to become the new owner of Valencia.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s form in Saudi Arabia
Ronaldo’s form in Saudi Arabia is still at the top level. He has scored 96 goals in just 105 appearances, averaging a goal every 96 minutes. If he maintains this crazy rhythm, he could reach the historic milestone of 1,000 career goals. He’s currently at 937 goals.
Despite the personal success, major team trophies have been elusive. Cristiano Ronaldo helped Al-Nassr win the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023, but he’s still chasing important titles such as the Saudi Pro League, the King’s Cup, and the AFC Champions League.
