An immigration judge ruled that Mahmoud Khalil can be deported over his “beliefs” and “expected beliefs,” even though he didn’t break any laws. But this ruling doesn’t mean Khalil is being deported yet. His legal battle has a long way to go, and it hinges on a second court proceeding.
