Gary Neville has insisted that Liverpool will win their 20th league title this season and match Manchester United’s haul.

Liverpool dispatched of Manchester City with a 2-0 victory courtesy of Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai, with Neville describing it as a ‘statement win’.

The result sees Arne Slot’s side move eleven points clear of their closest challengers Arsenal, albeit having played a game more than the Gunners.

United legend Neville is adamant that there is no risk of complacency from Liverpool, while he criticised Arsenal for ‘fumbling around’.

Arsenal suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to West Ham on Saturday and are without numerous key players due to injury.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said: ‘I can’t see complacency [being an issue]. They’ve got so much experience and look in control. They’ve adapted pretty well all season. Injuries are the only thing. The only thing you would say is that the team that is behind you is there waiting for you… but the team that are behind them are NOT their waiting for them. They are fumbling around.

‘That rain you can see is tears from heaven that Liverpool are going to win a 20th league title.

‘Sometimes there is a game that comes along, and Liverpool have dropped points in the last few weeks, four draws in eight, they have given Arsenal a chance. But there comes a game and you think “show up, make a statement” and this looks like it’s going to be that game.

‘They’d have gone to bed last night these Liverpool players happy about the fact Arsenal have dropped points and thinking, not that it’s a free hit, but “we can win the title here”.

‘They look very experienced and wise like a title-winning team should do. No panic.’

Liverpool have eleven games remaining in the Premier League this season, the first of which will see them host Newcastle on Wednesday.

Slot’s side have been hugely impressive in his first season at the club and will now be determined to see the job through and be crowned champions.

United won their 20th title in the 2012-13 campaign but will be hugely disappointed ifi Liverpool manage to match their tally.

Liverpool still have high-profile games to come against Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham but will be confident of going all the way.
