Kanye West has stated his appreciation to Elon Musk on X for allowing him ‘to vent’ before deleting his account.
The rapper, 47, was referring to the series of slurs against Jewish people which he posted on the social media platform on Friday 7. His antisemitic tirade included the comments, ‘I’m a Nazi,’ ‘I love Hitler. Now what b**ches,’ and ‘I don’t like or trust no Jewish person and this is completely sober with no Hennessy.’
The angry public backlash against his remarks prompted X owner Musk to add a sensitive content warning to the rapper’s account yesterday. The Tesla tycoon wrote on X, ‘Given what he has posted, his account is now classified as NSFW [Not safe for work]. You should not be seeing that anymore.’
Musk, who was recently appointed as head of President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has owned the social media platform formerly called Twitter since 2022.

Before deleting his account West addressed the controversy. He wrote on X, ‘I’m logging out of Twitter. I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board. It was like an Ayahuasca trip. Love all of you who gave me your energy and attention. Till we connect again. Good afternoon and good night.’
David Schwimmer’s call for Elon Musk to remove Kanye West’s ‘megaphone’
Leading the calls to remove West from the site was the actor David Schwimmer. The Friends star, 58, made a post to his eight million followers on Instagram yesterday. He wrote, ‘We can’t stop a deranged bigot from spewing hate filled, ignorant bile… but we CAN stop giving him a megaphone, Mr. Musk.’
The actor argued, ‘I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that he identifies as a Nazi (which implies he wants to exterminate ALL marginalized communities including his own) or the fact that there is not sufficient OUTRAGE to remove and ban him from all social media at this point.
‘Silence is complicity,’ he added.
The latest Kanye West controversy
This most recent scandal follows West and his wife Bianca Censori’s shock disruption on the Grammys’ red carpet, which saw the couple being promptly escorted from the event by security.
The rapper also made a plea on Friday to President Donald Trump requesting the release of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. Combs, who West described as his ‘hero,’ remains in custody awaiting a criminal trial due to allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering.
