Erling Haaland was spotted limping on crutches and wearing a protective boot in a blow to Manchester City after their FA Cup quarter-final victory at Bournemouth.

Haaland was forced off during the second half at Vitality Stadium shortly after scoring City’s equaliser, having tangled with Lewis Cook, who then fell onto his ankle, and collided with the advertising hoardings surrounding the pitch.

The frontman attempted to play on after receiving treatment but immediately signalled to the bench that he could not continue after returning to the pitch.

He was replaced by Omar Marmoush, who went on to score City’s winner three minutes later to set up a semi-final tie against Nottingham Forest at Wembley.

Pep Guardiola delivered a terse eight-word update when pressed on Haaland’s condition after the game, saying: ‘I don’t know yet, we will have to see.’

But a video shared across TikTok and X will sound the alarm bells in City’s camp. Indeed, Haaland was seen gingerly leaving the stadium while limping on crutches.

Clad in his red club tracksuit, Haaland made his way toward the team bus while accompanied by a member of City’s backroom staff.

City now face a nervy wait before learning the extent of the setback but it is currently unclear whether the protective gear was simply a precautionary measure.

A red-faced Haaland had missed a penalty during the first half after Tyler Adams’ handball, his low effort kept out by Kepa Arrizabalaga down low to his left. He also later blazed over a golden chance after racing onto a long ball inside the box.

But he made amends shortly after the half-time restart by burying an inch-perfect cross from young substitute Nico O’Reilly at the far post.

City remain in the hunt for one trophy this season, as well as a top four finish in the Premier League, and Guardiola saluted the effort of his players after fighting back at Bournemouth.

‘There are minimum requirements that we have to show – respect for your mate, you have to make the effort. And today we did it,’ Guardiola said.

‘I spoke with the team at half-time so we are good. We are in your hands.

‘We conceded just one shot on target. That means how Bernardo, Kova, the senior players, the legendary players that give the most incredible things in the club, they make a step up again and made an excellent performance.’
