Manchester City and Chelsea are among the leading European clubs keeping a close eye on Leicester 15-year-old Jeremy Monga, who is already training regularly with the first team.
Paris St Germain and Barcelona have also made enquiries about Monga, a winger who can also play in other roles across the front line. He was included in the squad for Leicester’s recent FA Cup tie at Manchester United, and nearly made the bench for their Carabao Cup defeat at Old Trafford last October.
Monga is already an England Under-16 international and is regarded as one of the best prospects Leicester have produced.
Players cannot sign a professional contract before they turn 17, and Monga will not reach that age until July 2010.
That leaves Leicester vulnerable to wealthier clubs – even though they are desperate to avoid a repeat of Trey Nyoni’s move to Liverpool in September 2023.
Like Monga, Nyoni was one of the best talents in the Leicester academy but was persuaded to move to Anfield aged 16.

Now 17, he has made 15 senior appearances for the Reds, with the compensation package due to Leicester still to be determined.
Monga has played six times in Premier League 2, registering a goal and an assist. Another of Leicester’s top youngsters, 16-year-old forward Jake Evans, has nine goals in 11 Premier League 2 games.
‘This club is a great pathway for young talents to get first-team training, first-team football in the Premier League at a young age,’ said Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy earlier this month. ‘There are not many clubs who can offer that.
‘There’s a great academy here and I look inside to strengthen. When players are good enough, the age doesn’t matter to me, and they can help the squad and the team.’
