Barcelona players held a minute of silence ahead of their training session on Sunday following the death of the club’s first team doctor a day earlier.
Mail Sport previously reported that Blaugrana’s footballers were informed about Carles Minarro passing away after arriving at the stadium.
The club published a video on social media with the players paying tribute to Minarro, accompanied by: ‘Before training, the team held a respectful minute of silence in memory of Dr. Carles Miñarro Garcia.’
Furthermore, Barcelona followed later with another post on X, which read: ‘Always in our memory, Carles’
The Catalans had their Saturday’s home match against Osasuna postponed 20 minutes before the kick-off, with the statement from the club following in the next hour.
While the Olympic Stadium was set for the game and the team’s lineup was announced, no Barcelona players came out to the pre-match warm-up.

Carles Minarro Garcia had worked for Barcelona for seven years and the first team this season

The club announced the postponement of the game against Osasuna 20 minutes before the kick-off on Saturday night
‘FC Barcelona is deeply saddened to announce the passing of first-team doctor Carles Minarro Garcia this evening,’ the club statement read.
‘For this reason, the match between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna has been postponed to a later date.
‘The FC Barcelona Board of Directors and all staff extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.’
Spanish outlet Marca reported that Carles Minarro died at the team hotel, leaving behind two children, Gerard and Anna.
It is understood that he was close to Barcelona players after he joined the first team at the start of the campaign.
Spanish midfielder Pedri shared a tribute on social media, writing: ‘I still can’t believe it. A big hug to Carles’ family and friends.’
Defender Ronald Araujo added: ‘Unbelievable. Rest in peace Doc. Much strength to the family and friends. May God strengthen your hearts in this difficult time.’
Osasuna also offered their condolences to Barcelona and Carles Minarro’s family.

Barcelona and LaLiga are currently in talks in order to reschedule the game against Osasuna
‘Club Atletico Osasuna wishes to convey its deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Carles Miñarro Garcia and would like to send a warm hug to all the staff of FC Barcelona, as well as to its fans, at this difficult time,’ a club statement read.
‘May he rest in peace.’
The Catalans are currently in talks with LaLiga to reschedule the highly anticipated game against Osasuna.
Hansi Flick’s band were eager for revenge after they suffered a 4-2 defeat against the Red and Whites back in September.
However, rescheduling the game will prove to be no easy task as Blaugrana are currently fighting for all major competitions of the season.
Only a potential collapse from the Champions League could open the door for the game against Osasuna in late April.
Otherwise, the remaining option remains at the end of the season in May.
Until then, Flick’s men will compete for the LaLiga triumph, where they are one point clear from currently second-placed Atletico Madrid.
They are expected to return to the pitch in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 with Benfica on Tuesday.
