Athelas partners with Resilient Healthcare for outpatient care, hospital billing

Athelas, a healthcare technology company involved in revenue cycle management (RCM), ambient AI and electronic medical records (EMRs), announced a strategic partnership with Resilient Healthcare, a company that provides at-home physical therapy, primary and acute care.

Athelas, powered by healthcare software company Commure, will become Resilient Healthcare’s preferred vendor for EMR and RCM.

Resilient Healthcare’s aim is to streamline acute and outpatient hospital at-home programs and achieve “seamless integration and scalability across healthcare systems.”

In a statement, Resilient Healthcare said it expects the partnership to boost its market dominance by providing complete health-at-home solutions.

The first phase of the partnership will include a pilot program through which Athelas will provide RCM services, ambient AI support and EMR integration to Resilient Community’s AI platform, RAIN.

Additionally, Resilient will pilot the combined technology with several hospital clients.

The aim of the pilot is to demonstrate the efficacy of offloading outpatient services and billing from conventional hospital systems, utilizing software integration and seamless data exchange, while driving care delivery to patient homes.

The partnership agreement is tailored to “adapt and scale” with Resilient Healthcare’s expansion into new hospital systems, supporting service delivery and compliance.

“Athelas is thrilled to partner with Resilient Healthcare to expand access to high-quality, innovative technology to provide the best patient care possible,” Tanay Tandon, CEO of Athelas, said in a statement.

“Together, we empower healthcare providers with the tools they need to effectively deliver health-at-home care for improved patient outcomes and operational efficiency.”

Jackleen Samuel-Kloes, CEO of Resilient Healthcare, said the partnership will move innovative, AI-driven solutions to the forefront of patient care.

“At Resilient, our mission is to provide proactive, personalized healthcare that improves patient outcomes and enhances the efficiency of care delivery in the home. This partnership with Athelas allows us to leverage cutting-edge technology to support our patients better and empower our healthcare teams to deliver exceptional care.”

THE LARGER TREND

In 2022, Athelas secured $132 million across two funding rounds, earning the startup unicorn status, with a valuation of $1.5 billion.

General Catalyst and Tribe Capital each led one of the financing rounds. Other participants include Sequoia Capital, YCombinator, Greenoaks, Human Capital and Initialized Capital.

Athelas and Commure merged in 2023. At the time, the companies said they raised fresh capital from General Catalyst, valuing the combined entity at $6 billion.

Last year, Commure announced it acquired digital care navigation platform Memora Health. The aim of the alliance was to integrate Memora’s patient navigation tools with CommureOS’s proprietary integration engine.

Commure also purchased the then publicly-traded ambient AI company Augmedix in a deal worth $139 million. Augmedix became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Commure. The acquisition also caused Augmedix’s stock to cease trading, and the company was delisted from the Nasdaq Stock Market.
