Bournemouth are to open talks with manager Andoni Iraola over a new contract ahead of interest from Tottenham.

Owner Bill Foley is due to attend their fixture at Crystal Palace on Saturday prior to officially opening the club’s new training ground.

He will then take the opportunity to talk to Iraola about his future with the club keen to reward the Spaniard for the progress made this season.

Iraola, 42, was appointed in June 2023 on a two-year deal and signed a one-year extension last May. He had previously been courted by Leeds United.

This season he has defied the odds by taking Bournemouth’s relatively small squad to the cusp of European qualification with some eye-catching performances along the way.

That has alerted the likes of Tottenham, who are expected to part ways with Ange Postecoglou this summer, and Real Madrid.

Postecoglou has come under significant pressure given Spurs currently sit 15th after losing 17 of their 32 Premier League games and Iraola has emerged as a leading candidate for the role.

However, Bournemouth hope to convince Iraola to stay on the South coast.

He is expected to be given resources to build with big money offers expected for Liverpool targets Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez plus winger Antoine Semenyo who has interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.

Iraola made his name in management with Cypriot side AEK Larnaca along with Mirandes and Rayo Vallecano in his homeland.

At Rayo, the 42-year-old got them promoted to LaLiga before guiding them to a 12th place finish in 2022-23.

That summer he joined the Cherries and their position in 12th place in 2023-24 was achieved thanks to a club record Premier League points tally of 48, something they have already equalled this season.
