Premier League’s highest-paid players and managers revealed in new L’Equipe ranking: Two Man United flops in the top six… and a VERY surprising name on £1.02m a month as third best-paid boss

The Premier League’s highest paid stars and managers have been revealed in a new rich list published by L’Equipe.

There are no prizes for guessing which superstar tops the pile, with Manchester City’s goal machine Erling Haaland way out in front.

The Norwegian, who put pen to paper on a whopping nine-and-a-half year deal earlier this season, is estimated to be taking home a gross monthly salary of £2,151,000 (£537,750-per-week).

As Mail Sport’s Mike Keegan reported in January, Haaland’s contract features a base rate among the best in Europe but then goes well beyond that when including almost guaranteed adds-ons, loyalty bonuses and image rights payments.

His new contract, which does not feature a release clause, is built on similar principles to his first bumper deal at the club – although it falls short of taking him over the £1m-a-week mark.

It’s Haaland’s team-mate in second spot in L’Equipe’s list. Kevin de Bruyne is estimated to be earning a gross monthly amount of £1,723,000 (£432,000-per-week).

But the 33-year-old is unlikely to be taking home that kind of cash for much longer.

He is set to leave City this summer upon the expiry of his contract with the current Premier League champions.

Casemiro and Mo Salah are tied in third place on £1,505,000-a-month (£376,250-per-week), again without taking into account any bonuses involved in their contracts.

The output from these two this season couldn’t be more different, with Salah favourite to win Premier League Player of the Season having led Liverpool to the brink of the title and Man United’s Brazilian midfielder struggling at Old Trafford.

Casemiro was even namechecked by Sir Jim Ratcliffe in his recent interview with Gary Neville as being a player on a huge salary that INEOS inherited.

After a promising start to his United career, Casemiro’s form dropped off a cliff, though recent displays have at least been more promising.

He recently outlined his desire to stay and play out his contract, which runs until 2026. Salah, however, is yet to sign fresh terms at Liverpool and could leave this summer.

In joint-fifth on the L’Equipe list is another United flop in Marcus Rashford, now on load at Aston Villa, alongside Chelsea exile Raheem Sterling.

The winger on loan at Arsenal is estimated to be banking £1,397,000 (£349,000-per-week) every month, though, like Rashford, the earnings are being split between parent and loan club.

Rashford was enduring a poor campaign with his boyhood side before finding some form in the Midlands and looking more like his old self in recent England showings.

Sterling’s move to Arsenal, after being surplus to requirements at Chelsea under Enzo Maresca has been disappointing but he remains one of the leagues top earners.

In terms of managers, Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta lead the way.

The City boss is reported to be on £1,656,000-a-month (£416,000-a-week), while the Spaniard banks £1,237,000 (£309,000-a-week).

In third place, there’s a surprising name. There’s no place for Liverpool’s new boss Arne Slot or Manchester United’s Ruben Amorim.

Instead, Everton’s David Moyes completes the top three, with the 61-year-old collecting £1,020,000 (£257,000-a-week).

The club will feel that has been money well spent.

Since Sean Dyche’s departure and Moyes’ arrival for his second spell on Merseyside, the Toffees have been sensational and moved well clear of the relegation zone.
