Colorado hotel offers ‘crystal concierge’ to suport peaceful travel

Crystal visions, crystal vacations?

One Colorado hotel is offering guests access to a complimentary “crystal concierge,” from whom they can check in and check out healing stones, many of them locally mined.

They can help guests choose the right crystals to promote whatever sense of well-being they’re after, from happiness to calm to optimism.

The historic Mining Exchange Hotel in Colorado Springs, CO dates to 1902 The Mining Exchange Hotel

The historic, recently renovated Mining Exchange Hotel in Colorado Springs dates to 1902; the property initially served as a home base and business hub for mining magnates. Now, in collaboration with local wellness boutique Aurathentic, the Mining Exchange provides crystal selection and delivery so patrons can access these power pebbles for the duration of their stay.

“Our partnership with the Mining Exchange still reflects a rich mineral connection to the past, with its value no longer necessarily in commodity but in energy and healing,” Barb Horst, founder of Aurathentic, tells The Post.

Auratherntic, which specializes in energetic awareness and healing, oversees the collection of the stones to ensure authenticity and quality.

“Crystals have energetic and vibrational qualities. Some crystals are for grounding, clearing, healing, balancing, and others amplify,” Horst explained.

“Crystal therapy can have positive effects on your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual state. Crystals are as ancient as the planet itself, and have many of the building blocks of the universe.”

Horst recommends that crystals be carried in pockets or pouches or incorporated into jewelry. To keep the vibes high, she says the stones should be cleansed often, under clear, tepid running water.

The Mining Exchange Hotel’s crystal program currently features six stones:

  • Green aventurine: healing, luck, optimism. “Green aventurine means the ‘Stone of Opportunity’ and is most associated with prosperity and abundance,” said Horst.
  • Citrine: happiness, abundance, positivity. Horst said it’s a gemstone of light.
  • Fluorite: focus, energy, cleansing, wellness. “Fluorite absorbs and neutralizes negative energy within the body and the space surrounding you,” Horst said.
  • Moonstone: new beginnings, love, calming. Horst noted that it’s “strongly connected to the energy of the moon.”
  • Black obsidian: protection, grounding, stress relief.
  • Tiger’s eye: courage, strength, personal power. “Tiger’s eye is a stone of vitality and strength,” she said.

Horst noted that several stones are specifically suited for the needs of travelers: “Traveling can be hard on many as it takes us out of our comfort zone and exposes us to many things physically, mentally and emotionally.”

She maintains that while the six pack of stones detailed above can enhance your vacation, the following crystal can ease your journeys to and fro.

Shungite or Black Tourmaline

Horst said Shungite and Black Tourmaline can offset our exposure to man-made electromagnetic fields or EMF.

“We are all exposed to EMF these days, and air travel is more intense than ever with technology and ward off negative or toxic radiation,” she said.

The harmfulness of EMF is a source of continued debate with studies questioning the efficacy of shielding techniques.

Selenite

Horst said that selenite, a self-cleaining stone, is ideal to pack along on a trip, “for clearing your energetic field of unwanted emotional or mental energy from fellow travelers.”

Hematite or Red Jasper

Horst recommends Hematite or Red Jasper for when travelers feel anxious or uneasy, as these stones are known to provide grounding, peaceful energy.

Amethyst

Crystal enthusiasts agree that amethyst functions as a sort of tranquilizer, blocking negative energy, purifying the atmosphere around the wearer and supporting restorative sleep cycles, making it “healing and comforting for all situations.”

In addition to their crystal concierge service, the Mining Exchange Hotel also offers guests aura cleansing courtesy of Aurathentic.

“We lead with a science-based approach that uses technology to see your aura and measure your chakras in a quantitative way,” explained Horst.

“This non-invasive technology allows you to understand your personal energetic qualities to bring awareness and understanding to help improve your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.”

Aurathentic also offers guests energy balance and intention setting with a shamanic healer.

In addition, the Mining Exchange Hotel provides intuitive tarot card readings, mini massages, and themed art classes in partnership with Cottonwood Center for The Arts.
