Bayern Munich have reportedly told Joshua Kimmich that he must return to the table quickly if he is to have any chance of signing a new contract at the Allianz Arena.

The 30-year-old captain of Germany has been a Bayern player for nigh on a decade, having joined the Bavarian giants from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2015.

He has played more than 400 games for Bayern and won 20 trophies, including eight Bundesliga titles.

But his stellar stint in Munich could be set to end following the conclusion of the current season as his contract is due to expire on June 30.

Bayern had offered Kimmich a new deal, but it is understood that the proposal has since been withdrawn after the player’s hesitant response.

According to BILD, Bayern will not increase their previous offer and are only prepared to put the original deal back on the table on one condition.

In order to resurrect hope of a potential agreement, Kimmich must apparently approach Bayern bosses before Wednesday’s Champions League round of 16 first leg against Bayer Leverkusen and declare his commitment to his current club.

Bayern were said to have offered Kimmich an extension that would have seen his existing salary stay the same.

The player was reportedly willing to accept that part of the deal but his demands over a signing bonus were not to the club’s liking.

If Kimmich does not sign a new deal with Bayern then he will likely have plenty of alternative options this summer, including a possible move to Arsenal.

According to Sky in Germany, Arsenal have swooped in and held talks over acquiring the midfielder on a free transfer.

The Gunners are said to have a concrete interest in Kimmich and that is believed to be in part responsible for his reluctance to commit to Bayern.

Kimmich would be seen as a replacement for Jorginho, with the Italian set to leave the Emirates Stadium upon the expiration of his contract at the end of June.

It had previously emerged that runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool had also expressed an interest in Kimmich, with Arne Slot keen to strengthen his midfield.

Kimmich has reportedly informed Bayern of the offers he has on the table.
