Madrid’s Wax Museum has unveiled a new wax figure of Princess Leonor, marking a special moment in her life—the oath to the Spanish Constitution on her 18th birthday.

This new figure replaces the earlier one from 2014 and has been eagerly awaited by the public.

Madrid Wax museum honors Princess Leonor’s historic milestone

The unveiling of the figure is part of the Museo de Cera’s 53rd anniversary celebrations, and it captures Leonor’s transition into adulthood. The princess’s oath to the Constitution, witnessed by King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, and her sister Infanta Sofía, is now immortalised in wax. The two-piece white suit the princess wore during the event is carefully recreated, down to the smallest details like her simple ponytail and accessories.

One of the most notable features is the Order of the Golden Fleece displayed on the left side of the suit. This prestigious honour is an important symbol of Princess Leonor’s growing role in the Spanish monarchy.

How Princess Leonor’s Wax figure was meticulously crafted

Creating a wax figure like Princess Leonor’s isn’t a quick job—it takes about six months and can cost between €20,000 and €30,000. According to Cristina Placeres, Head of Marketing at the Madrid Wax Museum, the process begins with gathering detailed photographs to get the most accurate pose. After that, sculptors start with clay models, knowing that wax shrinks, and then move on to silicone moulds. Layers of hot wax are poured into the moulds, and the heads are carefully painted with oil-based paints to give them a realistic look.

Thanks to modern technology, digital scanning helps create more precise figures, ensuring every detail—from eyes to teeth—is realistic.

Princess Leonor’s Wax figure joins spanish royal family exhibit

Currently, Princess Leonor, along with King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, is one of the three members of the Spanish Royal Family featured in the museum. The new wax figure is a perfect tribute to the princess and reflects her steadily growing role in Spain’s monarchy.

This figure, crafted with great attention to detail, will surely be a highlight for visitors to the Wax Museum as they witness the future queen of Spain captured in such an iconic moment.
