In a gesture that took the inhabitants of Catarroja by surprise, the King and Queen of Spain, Felipe VI and Letizia, visited the municipality accompanied by their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, on December 22.
The royal family decided to travel privately to one of the areas hardest hit by the floods, showing once again their closeness and solidarity with those affected by the devastating storm.

Spanish Royal Family Visits Valencia
Since the beginning of the tragedy, Felipe VI and Letizia have shown a deep interest in the affected communities.
On previous occasions, their visits had been of an official nature. However, this time they opted for a more personal approach, also bringing their daughters so that they could learn first-hand about the reality faced by these regions.

The atmosphere in Catarroja was one of great emotion. Hundreds of neighbors gathered to welcome the royal family, who spared no gestures of affection and closeness.

A stop at l’Albufera
After their stop in Catarroja, the royal family continued their day in l’Albufera and El Palmar. According to local media, they enjoyed lunch at a well-known restaurant specializing in rice dishes.
The employees of the establishment did not take long to share on social networks several photographs with the King and Queen and their daughters, a memory they will surely treasure.

After lunch, the King and Queen and their daughters took a brief stroll through the area, generating surprise among the locals who enthusiastically cheered the royal family with shouts of “Long live the King!”.
During his tour, Felipe VI showed special interest in the state of l’Albufera Natural Park and talked with local deputy Ignacio Aleixandre, who shared details about the impact of the floods on the local economy, highlighting the drop in tourist bookings.
